MEDITATION 101: TECHNIQUES, BENEFITS AND HOW TO BEGIN A MEDITATION PRACTICE

Meditation is an ancient practice that embraces spiritual and personal development. It is centered around focusing your attention on clearing the mind of overcrowded thoughts with the intended purpose of increased well-being. The basic objective is to be present here and now – being precisely in the moment.

 

The goal of this workshop is to use meditation and mindfulness as practical tools to become more aware during our daily activities.

 

Meditation is a mind-body approach to life that a rapidly-expanding body of research is suggesting can help people manage a range of physical and mental health problems as well as promoting general well-being.

 

This workshop will give a basic introduction to meditation, including breath and posture.

We will practice different styles of meditation including:

  • Breath
  • Kundalini
  • Guided
  • Mantra
  • Mala
  • Body scan for deep relaxation

Each activity will be followed by a short discussion and chance for questions.

 

This is a workshop that is for anybody who wants to improve their health, peace of mind, and relationships with others. NO Previous Experience Necessary!

 

In addition to experiencing a variety of different meditations we will ensure that we set up the proper environment for meditation.  We are naturally influenced by the physical space around us, and creating surroundings filled with beauty, simplicity, and tranquility will aid you in achieving an effective meditation.  The physical space we create for meditation does not need to be elaborate.  In fact, simplicity is an extremely important and fundamental concept in meditation.

 

You should commit yourself to meditate regularly and to adopt a routine.  The commitment you make to meditation will aid you considerably in achieving a greater sense of harmony and self-awareness.  This workshop will show you how to carve out time from your daily schedule even if you think you don’t have the time or the privacy.
