A lot of reading lately and all of the books are part of the yoga teacher training that begins this week. So much intellectual, physical and emotional information to absorb. Give me more!

Every year it’s inevitable, winter skin. You know what I mean, right? The dry skin that comes from being indoors more than usual and warm dry air being circulated 24/7 by the heater in your house. This season, winter skin has met it’s match with these 3 Lush products.  And, of course, all the products smell wonderful. No. More like refreshing. My Lush obsession started with 2 products, Mask of Magnaminty and Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub (if I had to pick one Lush product to own it would be this one).

After the busyness of the holidays and what seemed like endless cooking, I’ve been back to enjoying green smoothies daily. Sometimes 2. No cooking required and my body is very happy.

One of my blogging goals this year is to attend a blogging conference. So excited! I signed up to go to Fitbloggin’! Know anyone that’s looking for a roommate?

I've been thinking that things are great, but what I want more than anyTHING is to feel good physically and mentally. The kind of feel good that doesn't come from owning stuff or that can be bought in a store. It's not even the kind of feel good that comes form setting a new PR or looking into a mirror and seeing perfection. At some point those things became a little less important. It's the kind of feel good that comes from what's truly most important in life. jillconyers.com

Last and not least, a new favorite quote that is so incredibly timely. It’s ironic that I’m sharing this post with a list of favorite things (aka possessions) that I love. These things make me happy, but I could, obviously, live without them.

I’ve been thinking that, sure, having certain things is great, but what I want more than anyTHING is to feel good physically and mentally. The kind of feel good that doesn’t come from owning stuff or that can be bought in a store. It’s not even the kind of feel good that comes form setting a new PR or looking into a mirror and seeing perfection. At some point those things became a little less important and were, sometimes, at the expense of feeling incredibly good.

It’s the kind of feel good that comes from what’s truly most important in life.

What’s on your list of favorite things? Did you know Oprah had a list of favorite things? What are you reading right now?

And, if you have any winter skin tips or suggestions, I’d love to hear them.

be the best best version of YOU

  1. I LOVE the format of this post. How did you put together the click to tweet inside of the box like that? The format and Oprah joke is really engaging and it inspires me to work harder on my formatting too.

  2. I just finished reading the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn last night and loved it! Wish it hadn’t taken me years of owning it to finally crack the spine but I enjoyed reading it and everything happens in its time.
I’m going to FitBlogging too. I am psyched to meet all these lovely bloggers I read so frequently. I don’t have a roommate yet. I didn’t realize this was something people did so far in advance. I am not really a plan-so-far-ahead person but I’m learning. 🙂

  3. Green smoothies make me feel good too and you inspired me to move down that path last January! 🙂 those skin products look amazing, I love when I find something like that and it makes you feel good, kind of special secret in your own way! Happy Friday Jill!

  11. Great post! I have been totally jumping on the new trend for body lotion that you put on while you’re in the shower. Total time save and makes staying moisturized even easier.

  12. Great quote! My favorite skin tip for winter is to use to add a natural carrier oil based face serum to your skin care routine. Layer it under your moisturizer which seals in the nutrients. Rosehip seed is my fav!

  13. I’ve had Mask of Magnanimity on my list of things to try from Lush for a while! I think I’ll check that out this weekend…and maybe get a test of the other products you mentioned.

  14. My favorite things are getting back in to the gym and reading a book a week. I had let those things slack the past few months and it feels good to get back to doing them.

I’ve actually used Oprah’s Favorite Things list to buy some great gifts. My favorite things this time of year are Chai Tea lattes, my Fortune Cookie Soap Whipped Cream and Marula Oil.

  16. I just bought a new blender so I can enjoy green smoothies again and I am SO Excited!

  17. I always love Oprah’s list of favorite things! How exciting that you are attending Fitbloggin! I hope to attend one day. I’m attending my first big conference (Blogalicious) in November. I’m currently reading The Blessed Life by Robert Morris. Awesome book about giving!

  18. winter bites! (especially in my region…Iowa). Dry skin is my norm, so I use coconut oil a lot. I use it as a base under my regular moisturizer, and I lather up my feet before bed. I wear my SmartWool socks almost daily, and I have been known to wear my fleece-lined tights as “leggings.” You do what you gotta do!

  19. Great favorites list! I may have to check out one of those yoga books.

  20. Those Lush products look amazing! And FitBlogging would be nice too!

  21. Jill I love that quote about happiness – it truly is a state of mind. I must admit I miss the Oprah show – and her favorite things shows were always so much fun. Can you imagine what it must have been like to be in the audience!?!

  22. Hi Jill! I’m loving fuzzy socks, warm meals and thick sweaters — because it’s cold out there! I’m hoping to make it back to BlogFest this year as well!

  23. I’m totally with you on the feelings as opposed to the things! I love experiences – getting outside and enjoying nature, exploring a new part of my city, and even just a lazy morning reading on the couch with my boyfriend and my cat 🙂

  24. I’ve heard great things about the Lush Cosmetic brands and I should definitely look into their skin care products! The winter is so harsh on my skin! That’s great that you’re enjoying reading about all things yoga!

  25. I always dreamed that I would get to go to her show when she revealed her favorite things! One year she had all teachers!! I have been keeping my face super hydrated with Block Island Organics night face lotion. I use it during the day. It’s not greasy at all and it keeps my face from getting all dried up!

  26. I really want to go to a blogging conference this year, too. I’m not sure when, but hopefully I can make it to one!

  27. Karma Kream looks interesting! Going to check them out. Smoothies and reading make me happy too!!!

  28. Going to a blog conference is on my list of goals this year too. I will be attending a virtual blog conference and possibly purchasing the audio/video from another conference.

  29. I really love my green smoothies when the weather is warm. I need to get over my aversion to them in the winter…I make soup instead hahaha.

  30. Fun Fact, Oprah used to be on at 4 o clock and I watched her EVERYDAY when I came home from school. It was such a fun show, but her Favorite Things show was my favorite. It’s actually similar to Ellen’s 12 days of Christmas shows. Anyway, moving on, haha, these are all so fun. I would love to get to a blogging conference one of these years. They typically fall right when I’m on vacation, making it hard. One of my favorite things was getting a sweaty workout in today while little girl slept, oh, and she didn’t have too bad of a night last night. I’ll take it!

  31. Jill where and when is Fitbloggin… I want to go to a conference this year too. And having you for a roommate sounds amazing! Let me know 🙂

  32. I gotta sign up for FitBloggin’!!! And Ineed to try those Lush products. My skin HATES winter. I feel like I need layers of lotion on every day!

  33. I am jumping back on the green smoothie train and just started using the Skoop A game I won in your giveaway and I absolutely love it! I have been enjoying them as a mid-morning snack and have been feeling great. It feels so good to be back on a routine!

  34. Right now I’m reading the Power of Habit – Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business. I Just started it but it’ll be plane reading this weekend so hope to finish it! Love your favorites list!

  35. I wanted to get some PJs that were on Oprah’s list for my mother in law, but they were sold out – the power of Oprah! I can’t stand the overpowering scents in Lush but my daughter loves their bath bombs.

  36. Ooh lush products are great! I am torn about fit bloggin it is in Indianappolis. My daughter goes to IU except not in july it feels silly to travel there when she is at home and not there. Oh well!

  37. Of all people, I feel like I trust Oprah when it comes to her list of favorite things. She doesn’t BS you!

  38. This year has started off so rough for me that right now I crave happiness and contentment. I want to put forth a positive face on my blog and having to do that helps me immensely. I’d love a career change, even though I love what I do, because the demands of the insurance industry coupled with Dr Google and social media have made my job an enormous challenge.

Sorry for the long comment! Keep inspiring me!

  39. Robin Rue (@massholemommy) says:

I need to get back to drinking (and eating) my greens. The holidays weren’t pretty and I need to get back on track.

  40. I just finished reading The Boys in the Boat about the 1936 Olympic rowers from Washington State University that was absolutely wonderful and just started My Year of Running Dangerously about a father and daughter who run a marathon together. Winter is a great time to catch up on reading. Oprah always has an interesting list and some of the things are actually affordable for anyone!

  41. Im so so so frugal BUT each year I devour and research and LOVE Oprah’s list.
Im not sure why even—but I find it so fun and always LONGED to be in her audience when she surprised them with EVERYTHING ON THE LIST.
(((must find me some KARMA KREME too)))
