A Positive Mindset and A Willingness To Do the Work
I’m not the only one in the family with fitness goals. First, you have my husband whose goal this year is to run a 300+ mile ultra. Crazy right?
Next you have my daughter, Alyssa. She has always been active beginning with gymnastics at 2, dance, and then combining her love of both and becoming a competitive cheerleader. That’s when setting fitness goals began. As part of training, each athlete had to set skill goals for the competition season.
That lesson has stuck with her not only in fitness, but in life. Whether it’s a tumbling pass, a grade on a test or a score on the SAT and ACT, she decides she is going to do something and she does what it takes to accomplish it. That’s it. Nothing fancy and nothing complicated.
Quoting one of her favorite fitness brands, a decision to JUST DO IT as if there was no alternative to a successful outcome.
Alyssa is now a competitive cheerleader turned crossfitter.
Her current goals are to increase her weight in back squats, front squat and deadlift.
Part of the fun of fitness is shopping for athletic wear wouldn’t you agree?
Can you tell she’s enjoying this shopping trip?
DICK’s Sporting Goods ® is our one stop shop for everything she needs [and some of what she wants]. Her favorite brands and an unmatched selection makes life easy. Especially since a brand new store just opened up very close to our house. And, I have to say, Dick’s has upped their game with the new stores.
With my husband’s fitness goal for the year, I’m sure we’ll be making even more trips to this store throughout the year. Fortunately for me, I’m always happy to for fitness gear and athletic weat.
She sets her goals and she’s going to do what it takes to accomplish them!
Alyssa just told me yesterday that her friends kind of think it’s weird that she works out even though she doesn’t play a sport. Do you think she lets that stop her?
Were you active as a teen? Did you set goals as a teen? How do you encourage your children to be active and maybe even set goals? Where do you like to shop for fitness gear?
