A Nutty Nut Day
Its time for us all to go nuts! National Nut Day (October 22nd) is coming. Think whole nuts, chopped nuts, ground nuts, nut butter and/or nut flour.
Celebrate with your favorite nutty recipe!
Like with my Nourishing Nuts and Seed Bars, I combined my favorite nuts, seeds and fruits for this recipe. All the things I love and nothing I have to pick out. That’s the beauty of homemade.
I know. I know. It’s too early to say it, but this easy to make recipe that is delicious and simple to prepare in large quantities will be the perfect gift for friends, family and co-workers this holiday season. Fill up a jar, tie on a tag and voila, you have a gift idea friends and family will love.
A healthy gluten free breakfast recipe that is bursting with flavor and nutrients.
Ingredients
- 1 cup gluten free rolled oats
- 1 cup quinoa flakes
- 1/4 cup ground flax
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds
- 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
- 1/2 cup walnuts chopped
- 1/2 cup golden raisins
- 1/2 cup dried apricots, chopped
- 1/2 cup dried pineapple, chopped
- 1/4 cup hemp seeds
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1/4 cup dried cherries
- 1/4 cup cranberries, chopped
- 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- dash of nutmeg
Instructions
- In a large bowl combine all ingredients and stir until mixed well.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
- Serve hot or cold with milk, on top of yogurt, or by itself as a snack.
- Muesli is often served after soaking overnight to soften. Simply combine 1/2 cup muesli and 1/2 cup milk and soak overnight. As little as 15 minutes works well too. Serve cold or heated and topped with yogurt and fresh fruit (optional).
Notes
Substitute your favorite dried fruits for any of the dried fruits in the recipe.

Have you ever made your own muesli? What favorite things would you add to your recipe?
Sharing the recipe love with friends at Foodie Friday.
be the best version of YOU
Yay! I have enough random spare ingredients lying around to make a variation of this! :D!
omg i love muesli! I did not know about it until last year when I tried it haha Now I prefer make muesli as opposed to regular, hot oatmeal. Will have to try this recipe out!
Never made my own, but museli was very popular when I lived in Australia. I’d buy a whole bunch from the farmers market that was homemade. And they would “customize” it for regular customers too.
Great recipe and it would make a great gift for the holidays too!
Yum! I love muesli, but have never made my own before. I’ll have to give this a try.
This is a great idea, Jill! I have been making Christmas gifts in jars for a few years now, so you’ve given me some inspiration to try out something different this year! Thanks!
Yum! Am going to need to add this to my list of things to prep!
I have never made my own, but I will taste test yours…Looks delicious Jill! I hope you are having a good week…It feels like it has been forever since we have chatted! XOXO
Katie I was thinking the same thing. And I’m not just saying that 🙂
It’s been too long. How about if I come visit you in Nantucket so we can catch up? I’ll make the muesli for you. xoxo
I don’t think I’ve ever really had Muesli before. How hard is to to eat the pumpkin seeds like that?
So much yum!! The only problem is I think I would eat all of it in one sitting! Happy Nut Day!
Jill, one reason I love the blogging community is because you learn so much. I honestly did not know what muesli was until I googled it. Though it was granola, and it’s similar, but with less oils all the good nuts have all the healthy fats you need and less sugars. I did not know how you ate it either, until researching either. You can enjoy it cold with milk any variety too or even hot like oatmeal. Like me I love overnight oats and I could even soake these! What a great healthy gift made straight from the heart. I’m so keeping this!
I’ve never heard of muesli before. Thanks for introducing me to something new!
Looks nice. I used to make muesli quite often. I liked it with warm nut milk.
Oh I am definitely making this my friend! Looks so so good!
Love all your pictures, looks so yum! 🙂
Looks good! I have never made muesli but I might have to give it a go!
That looks simply delicious ….. and so healthy!
Muesli – talk about one of my favorite snacks – I think I love it because of the mixture of textures and flavors!! I love dried cranberries, pistachios, and chocolate chips. Raisins, chopped walnuts and pecans are also another favorite combo!!
Great idea to give the muesli as a gift. I always have random fruits and nuts floating around in my cupboard and freezer so the mix and match approach works great for me. I would probably add some cardamom to the seasoning mix, I’m a sucker for the flavor 🙂
Sounds delicious.
wow that sounds so healthy and amazing…looks it too..YUM!
Love this! All the muesli I find in stores usually has way more sugar than I prefer. I would enjoy it much more knowing that I had control over the ingredients 🙂
I had museli for the first time in Italy! I loved it. Going to try this 🙂
Mmm. Muesli! For some reason I only ever have this for breakfast when I’m on vacation. Probably cause I get to enjoy it with so many tropical fruits. Your version looks delicious
Looks tasty and would be a great holiday gift too! I’m going to put this on my list for holiday coworker gifts!!
Looks so good. I love that you packaged it in tiny mason jars. 🙂
Nice one! I’ll try it over the weekend!
This sounds wonderful – I am heading to Whole Foods today to pick up the ingredients!
This is awesome, Jill. I’m just so glad I found your blog because it’s PACKED with great info. I could browse it for hours. I love snacking on nuts and bringing them to class and work. Perfect healthy, filling snack.
I bet this would actually be really good on squash! (you picture reminded me!)
Sounds fantastic, Jill! I’m an overnight oats girl but I may have to delve into the land of muesli after seeing this recipel Yum!
Hmmm… That looks so delicious!
No, I never did my own muesli. I rarely eat them to be sincere, but that’s an inspiring recipe.
I’ll pin it for later.
Thanks for sharing it, Jill.
