It's been way too long since I've invited everyone over, so how about a workout and smoothie bowls? My house? Sound good?  The workout will be a round of my first created-by-me bootcamp. Then, delicious and refreshing smoothie bowls. Do you think you can make it?

Good morning. I think I start almost every post with good morning, right? Well, it is good. I never have a bad morning. I can’t always say that for the rest of the day because, well, life happens, but mornings I can count on.

How is everyone doing? Wonderful I hope.

Is it me or do you feel like summer is winding down? I’m sure it has a lot to do with going back to work after the most amazing summer break. I don’t want to wish summer away, but I’m ready for fall. I’m ready for the change of seasons and I’m ready for, dare I say it this early, pumpkin.

Very Berry Smoothie Bowl

Yield: 2 Servings

Very Berry Smoothie Bowl

Swap your smoothie cup for a bowl, blend, add your favorite toppings and you have a cool refreshing snack that's great for after a workout or to enjoy on a warm summer afternoon.



  1. Place the acai packets, coconut water, banana, protein powder, ice in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Divide the blended mixture between 2 bowls.
  3. Top with granola, strawberries and blueberries.
  4. Serve immediately.


For a thicker consistency add more ice or let sit in a freezer about 10 minutes before serving.

Any requests for different toppings? I will happily have your toppings of choice on hand.

  1. Yay! Smoothie bowls are my favorite! 😀 I love Sambazon’s smoothie packs–my mom sent me several packs through a snowstorm (from CA to WV), so they were actually still cold and partially frozen when they got to me! <3

  4. 1) I’ve never tried acai and 2) I’ve never tried a smoothie bowl. I really need to! Where does one buy acai? Super market? I’ll let you know when I whip up my own smoothie bowl!

  8. It didn’t feel like much of a summer this year. Much rain, not enough hot days. I enjoy smoothies after a weekend workout.

  9. WELL AS YOU KNOW – I’M WEIRD and eat my food cold 99.9% of the time 🙂 BUT I have yet to have a smoothie “bowl” is it simply the same as a smoothie but in a different container – or do these come out thicker? it’s never too soon for pumpkin my friend <3

    1. You’re a little weird in the cutest best possible way! A smoothie bowl is a thicker smoothie. You must try it 🙂

  10. Summer isn’t over for me either because we have one more vacation left at the end of August- hooray. I love the idea of a smoothie bowl. In the summer I miss my oatmeal because sometimes it is just too hot and this is a great substitution.

    1. Hi Hollie. I agree. Oatmeal for me is mostly a winter and fall breakfast or snack. Although, smoothies, I drink a smoothie a day all year long.

  11. yummm Jill!! This looks so good. Acai is one of my favorite ‘superfoods’ to add to a smoothie. the taste is so unique!
    and sadly yes summer does feel like its slowly ending… the sun goes down earlier in the day now which is the worst part for me!

    1. Shorter days isn’t one of my favorite things about fall. Otherwise I love all it. The taste of acai is very unique. At first I had a hard time using it in recipes. Happily it’s no longer a problem.

  12. I’m in, Jill! I’ll take a little extra crunchy granola on my smoothie bowl 🙂 This is the first time I have heard of a smoothie “bowl” and I love it. It’s kinda like a yogurt parfait? Granola added on yogurt is my favorite and I think it’s a nice touch to this smoothie bowl, too! I’m not pumped about summer being over soon, but bring on the pumpkin!!!

    1. Hi Amy. Granola is one of my favorite toppings. It’s kind of like a parfait without the yogurt. Of course you could always add a dollop of yogurt on top. I bet that would be yummy! It’s an extra thick smoothie. A nice alternative to the traditional glass because sometimes you just need a spoon. Let me know if you try it and how you like it.

  13. It’s hard for me to think about summer ending when it is in the 100’s in Texas…LOL! I did a few recipes for pumpkin on Pinterest and I am not ready for the pumpkin invasion. I love berry smoothies after a workout. They are the best way to cool down and nourish my body! 🙂

  32. Pumpkin reminds me of when my little pumpkin will be here so I’m all about it! I can’t wait to meet her 🙂 As for the changing seasons, I feel like we’re kind of having that already. Our temps have been so weird but lately in the 70s instead of 90s. Maybe fall is coming early!
