Add a picture of my family and you have a glimpse of what life looks like right now. That’s it. There isn’t time for anything else. And I’m loving every minute of it!

YOGA and the meaning of SHANTI and PEACE

One of my favorite yoga instructors ends her class with, “om shanti, om shanti, may the light that shines inside of me shine upon that light that shines inside of you.”

I love the sound of the words. Shanti is a state of mental, physical and spiritual bliss that leads to serenity and calmness enabling clear perception.

In reading about shanti, I found this definition of peace. It’s the next print to go on my motivation wall.

Yoga has played a big part in being able to find peace in my heart. In the midst of all the crazy busyness right now I feel a calmness in my heart.

Life is an ever evolving journey and this is how it feels right now. So many things had to happen to get me to this place. I had to start believing in myself. It’s not perfect, it’s busy and sometimes feels nonstop. Still, this is exactly where I am supposed to be doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing. It’s an awesome feeling.

  7. The blog fest sounds so interesting!!!! I’m a new yogi…I’m only doing hot yoga so far…but I’m getting more devoted. I’ve been trying to do things that are easier on my joints after years of pounding the pavement!!!

  8. Your calmness in the midst of mayhem is inspiring I must say! Love that yoga can help so much in those times. I just remember that no matter how busy I am, if I can set aside 10 minutes of yoga I’ll feel a hundred times better – and get more done by doing so!

  15. So many exciting things going on for you! I wish I could go to Blogfest, maybe next year. We just can’t swing it with me going to Paris. I hpoe you have a wonderful time. I have never seen spray supplements! Interesting. What do you spray it on? Just in your mouth?

  16. My yoga instructor says the same thing at the end of our classes too and I love it. There’s something so peaceful about that. It ends the class perfectly each time! Spring is making the most happy right now! More time with family and friends, running, being outside, smelling Spring, all of it!! Have a great weekend! 🙂

  17. Hi Jill! Do you know I had NO idea what shanti meant, even though I’ve chanted it so many times in yoga? hahahah! Well, I’ve been going to yoga once a week for more than a year and felt so many benefits. In fact, I’m heading off to a lunch-time class right now! Happy Friday to you! 🙂

  21. I am totally going to have to try these spray supps. I am so over swallowing a gazillion pills daily, not to mention half of them make me nauseous. Everyone always says…”Just get the chews!”, but I don’t think they realize that a lot of those Chew supplements don’t contain the same amount of mg as the pill form of the supplement. Not to mention they are basically sugar. Thanks for the recommendation! I want to go to blogfest!!! AHHH! I gotta look into this!

  29. I’m studying for ACE right now but did NASM – it’s a lot of info to repetitively studying after doing the study guide and book totally helped!

  30. I completely understand the “studying consumes my life” feeling! I felt the same way when I was studying for my CPT. You will be glad you did & I know you will do great.

    I wish I could go to BlogFest! With a newborn, it’s not in the cards this year, but I’m hoping next year :).

  32. Blogfest looked so great last year-wish I could get out there but our summer is too crazy this year. They need an east coast event! Excited for you and your NASM test. I am taking the RRCA course in a few weeks. Nervous and excited.

  33. I’m so glad the NASM studying is going well! Keep up all of your hard work and balancing life! BlogFest is one of those dreams going on my bucket list. To be surrounded by a ton of other fitness bloggers AND workout together sounds absolutely wonderful!

    Something wonderful in my life right now: This pregnancy… only 11 weeks left! And SUMMER is so near! Being outside with my family is my absolute favorite 🙂

  34. I am going to IDEA this year! I’m so excited. Last year I had to cancel my plans last minute and coukdn’t go. I’m excited and nervous to be going! I need to try those spray supplements they look interesting!

    1. Megan we MUST meet! I’m so excited! The spray supplements are such a simple thing but they’re helped keep me on top of taking my vitamins daily. Whatever works 🙂

  35. Jill, I love this! I’m still working on “finding happy moments” and “being in the now” lately with work, I still feel a bit burnt out, but I am trying each day to refocus and refresh myself, things I was happy for this week:
    hugs from a usually quiet and reserved student, sunshine on my face while walking to the car, being told by a personal trainer, my workout was “intense” and the fact that it is friday!
    I WISH I was going to blog fest…

  37. good morning! spray supplements? what do I do with them ? where do I spray them ? Love the yoga inspiration. Tough week, back to the derm (I talk about it on the blog today) but 2 more cancers removals- another week of no yoga or running 🙁 It is making me blue. Blogfest sounds exciting!

    1. One spray in your mouth daily. Love it! I read about the derm. So sorry and unfortunately I can relate. My latest appt was alarming and all I can do at this point is wait. ugh!

  40. The yoga studio that I started attending in January involves a lot of chanting in Sanskrit. For the most part, I have no idea what it all means. What I do know is I love the way it vibrates through my whole body. It awakens yet calms me all at the same time.
