Be the best version of YOU has been added to the bottom of every post I write for more than a year. If I had to pick one positive affirmation to say to myself it would be this one. Those words bring me back to my intentions and purpose. They help me avoid the comparison trap. Those words remind me that being MY best is all I can do.

I recently read a post on Mind Body Green, 10 Signs That You’re Being the Best Version of Yourself and it’s been on my mind ever since.

How do I know if I’m being the best version of myself? Am I giving it my all? Am I being my very best?

According to Mind Body Green 10 signs you’re being the best version of yourself:

  1. You stop negative self-talk as soon as you see it coming.
  2. You know how to say no.
  3. You forgive yourself.
  4. You learn something new everyday.
  5. You celebrate your imperfections.
  6. You listen to your body.
  7. You embrace change as a growth opportunity.
  8. You’ve experienced failure.
  9. You step outside your comfort zone.
  10. You have relationships with people who make you feel good.

+1. You physically and mentally feel what it’s like to be the best version of yourself. It’s not as easily put into words as the 10 signs, but listen to your heart. Deep inside you just know.

It’s one of the most amazing feelings.

So, am I being the best version of myself? According to Mind Body Green? Yes. According to my heart? Yes.

  3. Jill, I’m loving all these reflection/self love/positive vibe posts! Your journey is evolving and it has the ability to impact and influence others in such a positive way, keep sharing! As for my best self, well, I don’t think of it that way, I think of it as my happiest self. And often, I’ll assess maybe why i’m not feeling happy and what I can do to change that. ps. intuitive eating, is wonderful, giving your body what it wants, with no negative feelings is so liberating

  5. I think the hardest one of those for me is celebrating my imperfections; it’s hard to see the positive side of my weaknesses, but there is something to learn and grow from everything. Loving my body after baby is a whole new ballgame sometimes!

  6. I try to be the best me every day but it’s definitely a work in progress as it is for most people. The negative self-talk creeps in every day when I get dressed but it’s getting better. Always working on that one.

  7. I’m working on being the best version of me every single day!!! Some days I know that I take a couple steps back but it will always be my goal from day-to-day!

  8. My first instinct was to say that I’m not there yet, but I think that’s a bit of the negative talk and self judgement. When I can really accept imperfection and not rush to judge, will I be the best of me? Something to strive for, but for now I know I’m doing the best with who I am today 🙂

  9. I love this! I have a bracelet that says “be the best version of you” and always try to live by that, even though sometimes it’s easier said than done. I have a hard time saying no and forgiving myself, but I’m working on it! 🙂

  10. This is such a great post. I was up all night last night thinking about things that I am not happy with about myself as far as my discipline and dedication. I know that I am not being the best version of me that I can be and I am letting negativity and feelings bring me down. Thank you for this reminder, it was like you read my mind because I was literally saying this to myself last night and asking myself, “Why?”

  14. Amen sister! I’ve been so focused on my internal game lately, and this is exactly on point. As soon as we reach that best version of ourselves inside, the outside follows suit, and that is optimal health.

  17. Love this! Anytime I feel negativity or anxiety comes up I try positive self talk to bring me back. I constantly need to remind myself though, it’s definitely not easy!

  20. I find that the best way to work towards being the best version of myself is to use the glass half full approach. It helps me to avoid negative thoughts and attitudes.
