I didn’t even plan to share a recap. In my mind this was just another training run. This is the longest distance I’ve run since June. Running has only been 3-6 miles 3-4 times a week until the weekend before the race when I ran 8.
My total focus for most of this year has been on 100% recovery from an injury in August of 2013 and then increasing strength, flexibility and mobility.
I needed to run less to run better.
I clearly wasn’t think about blogging a recap. I only took 2 photos.
Pre-run fuel because I was eating one of my all time favorite pre-race meals that I have not allowed myself to eat in a very long time. I ate it in the dark on our way to the race. It’s not a pretty picture but it was the best overnight oats ever!
This photo was for my coach, Christine at Dream Big Runner. She has stuck with me and has been such an amazing source of strength, inspiration and patience. Christine never gave up on me even when I wanted to.
My whole mindset for the race was I will listen to my body and run the pace I can when I can. No pressure!
It was amazing and fantastically perfect.
Beautiful weather. A run date with Chad. Tree lined paths with the leaves changing to fall colors. I rarely looked at my Garmin.
Oh and for the record, ProCompression socks rock! I’ve tried a lot of compression and ProCompression is the best.
I didn’t have any doubts going into the race. Actually, I wasn’t sure what to expect given the fact that I couldn’t even remember the last time I ran 13 miles.
How did I do?
I finished the race feeling like I won!
More importantly I felt strong. It’s been a long time since I crossed the finish line with tears in my eyes. I truly enjoyed the run. Goals accomplished!
This race is one of my top 5 proudest running moments.
be the best version of YOU
