This journey isn’t over and I still have a lot to learn.

Wait! Don’t leave yet. Just one more thing!

You know the David Bowie song?

I’ve had that song stuck in my head for days! Changes are coming to Jill Conyers [dot] com. Thinking about change feels like something I would usually put off as a new year’s resolution kind of thing, but why wait, right!

I’m so excited to share that I’m teaming up with Jessica at The Fit Switch again!

When Jessica and I talked about teaming up again for a link up we said things like,

“I want to take it in a direction that gets people to question a bit deeper”

“Choose topics and share posts that leave people thinking and making changes.”

We want the Fit Dish to create a community that inspires, supports and motivates!

  1. I couldn’t agree more with all of these, but I think number one speaks to me the most. Self acceptance is something I’ve really been working on lately and trying to not beat myself up over the little things. I’ve been so much happier since I’ve started cutting myself some slack and I think it’s making a huge difference in my life overall.

Thanks for sharing this. I loved reading it!

  2. Great life lessons. I totally have to agree with you.
The one that sticks out to me the most is 9, because it’s about the quality not the quantity.

    1. Thanks Matilda. Quality over quantity is true for so many things in life. Love your #dishthefit post 🙂

  3. I love love love the 10 lessons you shared. Took me the first half of my life to start figuring it all out! Also, I am so happy that you two are hosting #dishthefit together! Both of you bring much positivity to my daily reads with each new post!

    1. Thank you Diane. Your kind words mean a lot. I think everyone would agree that the first “half” of life is spent figuring it all out 🙂

  4. I also believe in having a positive attitude. This is good for the mind, body and soul. 🙂 I love all of your posts on instagram.

    1. Thanks so much! The positive attitude makes such a big difference 🙂 It really is remarkable!

      #FitFam Love

  5. I absolutely love number one!! And I really like your linkup. I’ll try to put something together for next week! 🙂

    1. Great! An early WELCOME to the #fitfam! I’m looking forward to your post Ariana.

  6. Wow! These are all great, you really nailed it with these life lessons. I think if you implement everything on this list you have the recipe for a happy life. Really awesome, it can take a lifetime for people to realize these 10 things are really all you need to be happy. It’s all about your out look and how you live your life. Love the post!

    1. Thank you Amber. It may take a serious change in mindset but the whole list is doable. I know because I’m doing it. It’s not 100% but better than ever.

  7. Love the life lessons and that you are teaming up with Jessica again. I’ve been loving this link-up and I am looking forward to future topics!

  8. Oh, I LOVE every single one of the things you mentioned! So awesome. I want to print them off and hang them on the fridge, lol! I also love your new link up. Sounds great!!

    1. Thank you Melanie. I should create a printable 🙂 I hope you will join our #fitfam.

  9. Avoiding extremes is a good one! I recently got rid of our scale because I was obsessed with the number! It was a major part of my morning routine and I missed it the first week or so, but now I hardly think about it!
I definitely have learned (or am still learning) everything on your list!
Thank you for hosting with Jessica! You two make great captains for this fitfam!

    1. Thank you Fawn. Your comment made me smile. Extremes took me down a very destructive path. No more my friend! WTG with the scales 🙂

      #fitfam love <3

  10. Thank you for putting this together! I’m really enjoying reading through everyones posts on the topic today and can’t wait to see what the topic is next week!

    1. Thank you Tricia! Everyone’s posts are wonderful shares and so inspiring. I’m so happy we’ve “met”.

    1. Me too Rachel! I’m getting better at catching my negative attitude and turning it around before it takes over 🙂

  11. I have never participated in a link up like this but I may join in! # 6 is a tough one for a perfectionist like me but I am working on not needing to feel like everything has to be so perfect all the time!

    1. Hi Sandra. The perfection lesson was a tough one to learn. It’s such a mindset that’s hard to break but when you do it’s liberating and feels amazing! Keep working on it. It’s worth the effort! You’ll see 🙂

    1. Hi Kat, the perfection lesson was a tough one to learn. It’s such a mindset that’s hard to break but when you do it’s liberating and feels amazing!

  12. I very much agree with all of these. I don’t think there should be any other way than to dream big, because for exactly what you said, why not!
I’m going to have to keep the link up in mind, I really need to participate in more of these, life just gets so busy but I really miss getting around a few times a week to all my fav. bloggers:)

    1. I know what you mean Kristy. Life gets crazy busy! I hope you will join us even if it’s every now and then when you find a break in the busyness of life 🙂

  13. My favorite of your list is living in the moment!!! You enjoy life soo much more when you live in the moment. Someone somewhere will always be wishing to trade spots with you, so enjoy your life fully!

  14. I love this link up! Y’all really do a great job at picking questions and topics that are thought provoking. And I LOVE reading everyone’s posts about it. Thank you for your 10 life lessons list above. All of them are so true and resonate with me. In fact, I have had several conversations about a few of them just this past week.

    1. Thank you Bri. I’ve read every single post and they make you feel positive and inspired. I hope you will join our #fitfam 🙂

    1. You’re so right Erin. When it comes down to it that’s all we can do. Will you be joining our #fitfam? 🙂

  15. Yup, # 1 is the place to start all right… without that, the rest don’t come easy if at all.

    1. Totally agree Elle! Without #1 the rest feels impossible or at best really really hard.

  16. What a beautiful idea. I love this idea and think it is amazing that you are teaming up with another blogger.
I am learning these same life lessons as well.

    1. Thank you Julie! Does that mean you’re thinking about joining our #fitfam? 🙂

  17. Great idea! I will think of topics for future weeks. In the meantime, it really is difficult to find a balance between obligations, hobbies and life.

Dream big is wonderful and don’t avoid something due to fear can go together, I love this!

    1. I was hoping you would join our #fitfam Tricia. Balance is tough and ever evolving to maintain. I was just thinking this morning that I know my life is in balance when I find time to paint my fingernails 🙂

  18. Great list, Jill! And, I love how you always DREAM BIG, it’s one of the first things I think when I think of you! Perty awesome stuff. So excited for all that’s ahead. #fitfam!

  19. Love the life lessons— I could not agree more about dreaming big! And yay for the new link up! Looking forward to reading many of the posts.

    1. Thanks Elena! The posts have been so inspiring including yours. You’re an excellent writer. I don’t always read long-ish posts (short attention span of bloggers/readers) but I read all of Longboat Key.

We need to paint our home gym walls 🙂

    1. I’m looking forward to reading your #dishthefit! Welcome to the #fitfam 🙂

  20. Looks like a super link-up – can’t wait to see some of the upcoming topics. Who knows?! Maybe I will even get on the ball and participate.

  21. Working on ALL of those ten items on the list daily! Love it!

  22. Self acceptance truly is the key to happiness, I know so many people who are insecure/low on themselves thus they don’t feel fulfilled and are actually quite negative. It’s sad 🙁

    1. You’re right Joanna, but better late than never right. With any luck I’m teaching my daughter a thing or 2 and she’ll realize #1 sooner.

    1. I was hoping you would join the #fitfam Deborah! I’m looking forward to it 🙂

  23. so agree with all of these . . . . and especially today on Perfection is an Illusion . . ..

    1. Hi Jennifer. That perfectionist lesson might have been one of the hardest to learn. It’s a mindset that’s hard to break.

  24. Ohh Dream BIG! That is me all the way. It’s a little bit hard because my husband is a 100% realist. But I think every realist needs a dreamer in his life 🙂

    1. Me too Pragati!! I wasn’t always a big dreamer and I married a very practical man. I’ve changed and it’s hard. I’m not talking divorce or unhappy hard but it’s difficult for us to see eye to eye on some things. He’s awesome anyway 🙂

    1. Hi Maureen. #s 1 and 6 go hand in hand don’t they. Valuable lessons learned 🙂

    1. Thank you Amanda. It was unintentional but this year I traded PRs and mega races for a personal journey. The trade off was well worth it.

  25. Oh Balance. I wish you were easier to attain but it really is the challenge of no extremes and finding center. Great list Jill. I’m looking forward to these link ups!

    1. I was hoping you would join Renee! Balance is forever evolving but I feel like I’m closer than ever. No extremes was a biggie for me!

    1. Without the self acceptance I don’t know if the other lessons would have been learned. Living a best life starts on the inside.

  26. this is awesome! i can’t wait to see the changes and with jess! so fun!

  27. Jill, first off, you look beautiful in the photo, I love you in red 🙂 and your lessons, are ones that I have learned/am learning/working on teaching myself, such as letting go of control, being IN the moment, taking chances. Sometimes when I am being a control freak, singing frozen’s song, let it go, helps me 🙂

    1. Hello my friend! How are you?

As always your kind words are appreciated. Learn to let go more often Amber. It’s liberating. Honestly, it feels amazing!

  28. LOVE this! And great idea, I will start thinking of good posts to add for next week 🙂

  29. I hope you’ll still come by and link up with our Tuesdays on the Run occasionally… Sounds like things are going well for you!

    1. Life is so so good. For the most part I’ve been keeping my running comeback quiet so I haven’t linked up. That is beginning to change. Coming back stronger and ready to shout it from the rooftops 🙂

  30. Great! I think #1 & #6 go hand in hand! I think as soon as we realize that perfection does not exist we can love the fabulous person we are! Have a great week Jill!
