Beyond the Active Living Challenge
I’ve participated in a lot of health and fitness challenges. Some I completed to the end. Others? Not quite. There was something about the Lorna Jane and Fit Approach #ActiveLivingChallenge that has stuck with me. Maybe it’s the timing for me personally or being more open to new possibilities and change. Maybe it was having the wonderful opportunity to meet Lorna Jane and hearing her speak at Blogfest. Regardless of the reason I’m living ACTIVE LIVING beyond the challenge.
I
have had a tendency to go to extremes with things. Extremes that were not sustainable. Extremes with trying to incorporate everything I read about how to be a better me. I mean, they’re experts so they must know, right. Wrong!
I needed to make a change. A change from extremes to a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. I’ve talked a lot about my personal journey with things like A Happiness Found Within and Letting Go of Control. Knowing and trusting that I know how to be the best version of me is the a destination of that journey. It has changed the way I think and how I make decisions. It has changed my perspective.
I’m adopting Lorna Jane’s mantra. Do you think she will mind?
Those 3 words embody a sustainable lifestyle. A simple perspective that has helped me get rid of all the extraneous “stuff” that I don’t need. I’ve actually lived an active lifestyle for many years but MOVE, NOURISH, BELIEVE breaks it down to simple concepts that remind me living my best, most beautiful life doesn’t have to be complicated. With busy lives it’s not always easy, but the concept is actually quite simple.
Every morning I start the day with setting 3 simple daily intentions to move, nourish and believe. The intentions help start the day on a positive upbeat note no matter what awaits in the hours to come. The intentions keep me on track and remind me to keep it simple and trust what I know. Most mornings it’s not even a conscious decision to set the intentions. I wake up with the mindset of, “how am I going to make the most of this day?”
8/28 Active Living Intentions
- Move – morning run and Piyo after work
- Nourish – don’t forget evening supplements
- Believe – toxic people will not affect how I feel about myself
Have you ever participated in a challenge and created new habits or learned something about yourself and made a change? If you participated in the #ActiveLivingChallenge what was your favorite part?
be the best version of YOU

I Love this! I agree, it’s such a practical, useful, amazing philosophy, and I love how you broke it down, and applied it! Thanks for sharing! I often forget the BELIEVE, part, but that fuels the others! So happy to have met you through the past Instagram challenges!
Me too Jessica! So happy we have met. Now, one day, we need to meet in person 🙂
It’s a great approach to life! Of course I talk about it all the time now, but it is awesome that it has stuck with you!
I have thought the same thing! Can I take “Move Nourish Believe” for myself!! I love it! It’s easy, and makes sense! I have started using the mantra personally too and using it to make wise everyday choices about how to treat and take care of myself! Wish I had been able to meet Lorna!
Brittany, she is as amazing in real life as she is virtually. I shared a little more about her in my Fitness Friday post if you’d like to read it.
We can both borrow her mantra for a wonderfully full life! I’m sure she won’t mind 🙂
I love the Lorna Jane challenges, they really force me out of my “active living box”. I know there are areas of my move, nourish, believe life that I could improve upon and strong areas I should share with the world. My favorite part is the variety and seeing what everyone else is up to. 🙂
You have so many strong areas Rosi! It is fun to see what other people are up to. Everyone puts a little different personal spin on things.
I love this challenge – it sounds simple but I know it really requires discipline. I love what you put next to believe about toxic people not influencing you!!!
Ugh! Toxic people can crush you! If you let them.
I think she’ll be honored you’re using her motto! It suits you 🙂
Thank you my friend 🙂
I love this mantra! I’ve never done a challenge like this but I think if love to do something like that!!
I’m sure there will be another LJ challenge sometime. Amber, you should join with me 🙂
I love challenges as they allow me to focus on certain goals. I’m doing the Whole Life Challenge soon and I can’t wait 🙂
What is the Whole Life Challenge? Sounds great!
Best challenge{s} ever for me were Amanda Brook’s McLatchie’s {Run to the Finish} Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge, etc. It brought me out of my comfort zone and brought so many amazing people into my life virtually who make a difference in my life daily!!
My favorite part about the #ActiveLivingChallenge was simply realizing how active I really am even when not working out!! This challenge brought so much awareness to me on how my life has changed in the last 2.5 years for the better! Thanks again for blogging about it!!
Amanda’s bootie buster challenges are awesome!
I totally agree. Move Nourish Believe is a fabulous mantra. And it take daily practice to better yourself to live it.
Daily is coming easier and easier 🙂
Love this!! Great post! 🙂
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, I’ve always loved Lorna Jane’s motto! Although, I did not participate in this last challenge, it’s something I think about and strive for everyday. And I couldn’t agree more, this mantra is something that it’s definitely doable and sustainable for the average person. There’s nothing complicated about it!
Hi Holly! How are you? The simplicity of it all is mind boggling to someone who makes everything complicated haha!
Love this!! I tend to get obsessive with things as well… this is a good reminder!
Obsessing can be exhausting haha! Thanks Lora.
I learned about the challenge late, but I too was inspired by her speech at BlogFest. What a great mantra for daily life.
Hi Pam, it’s kind of amazing how 3 little words can put so many things into perspective.
Haalllooo Jill!
The coolest challenge I remember doing is some random girls week body image “You are BeaYOUtiful” campaign.
Each day they had a starter sentences to write about in your journal.
Turns out is was really inspiring and helped me love myself even more! Sounds cheesey, but I kept the journal and would love to repeat it.
Thanks for the usual epic quotes, you’re awesome!
Not cheesy at all! It’s a challenge I would have loved to join.
I don’t think she’ll mind at all–I think she’ll be pleased!
I think you’re right Linda 🙂
I love this as well.
especially the believe.
Believe has been my biggest and most wonderful change!
I definitely agree that this has been your best challenge yet. I am really enjoying reading the posts, and Lorna Jane is so inspiring! I have changed my habits in small ways, mostly through editing what I am eating slightly, but for the most part, I would say I live a pretty healthy lifestyle….although some consider the amount of miles I put on my body unhealthy, but I have to make the most of my talent while I have it, and I am smart about it.
Thanks for sharing this Jill, you are ever inspiring!
Same to you Tina! Ever inspiring 🙂
I think LJ will be honored to have you adopt her mantra!
I think so too 🙂
