Mamma Chia Review and Giveaway
The following post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Mamma Chia.
After reading Chris McDoughall’s Born to Run I started adding chia to my smoothies and overnight oats. Then, after trying recipes from Scott Jurek’s book, Eat and Run I realized the multitude of ways chia seeds can be added to recipes for texture, consistency and, of course, nutrition.
What are chia seeds?
Chia seeds were revered by both the Maya and Aztecs for their amazing energy and natural healing powers. In pre-Colombian times, chia seeds were a main component of both the Aztec and Maya diets, and played a prominent role in religious ceremonies. One tablespoon of the seeds was considered capable of sustaining a warrior for 24 hours. Today, chia is the force behind the famous long distance runners, the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico’s Copper Canyon. The Tarahumara power their extraordinary stamina with chia, as described in the New York Times bestselling book, Born to Run by Christopher McDougall:
“In terms of nutritional content, a tablespoon of chia is like a smoothie made from salmon, spinach, and human growth hormone. As tiny as those seeds are, they’re super-packed with Omega-3s, protein, calcium, iron, zinc, fiber and antioxidants. If you had to pick just one desert-island food, you couldn’t do much better than chia, at least if you were interested in building muscle, lowering cholesterol, and reducing your risk of heart disease; after a few months on the chia diet, you could probably swim home.”
These extraordinary seeds offer a complete nutritional profile of Omega-3s, balanced dietary fiber, complete protein, antioxidants and minerals.
When given the opportunity to try energy and nutrients on-the-go? Of course I said yes.

Mamma Chia in my house?
Mamma Chia nailed it with a super nutritious, not too sweet, delicious and refreshing drink. I know, that’s a lot of adjectives, but it’s that good. It’s the combination of flavor and texture and, well, you just gotta try it.
Add convenience of on-the-go snacks. My kids love the squeeze packs, especially the Wild Raspberry. Me? I’m not a big fan of eating anything that comes in a squeeze pack, but I am a fan of convenient ways to boost the flavor and nutrition of smoothies.
If you make Mamma Chia Vitality ice cubes
they’re the perfect addition to a fruity smoothie.
I also squeeze the vitality packs into chia parfaits and on top of overnight oats. A convenient way to add the chia I’m going to add anyway along with a not too sweet berry flavor.
