It’s interesting to take a step back and notice how our perspective, priorities and thoughts change. What you think is important really isn’t. The things that bring you peace of mind change along with realizing the significance of making time to do those things.
⇒Benefit of gardening. Every morning I spend a few minutes here. A peace of mind to start the day.
⇒Realizing a pattern. Seeing that all of this…
has lead me to this and knowing it is exactly where I need to be.
⇒Creating recipes and cooking. It’s relaxing and rewarding. Laughable recipes gone wrong and all!
⇒Meditation. With an open mind, I ventured into the world of meditation and have learned that it isn’t anything like I thought it would be. My misconception of meditation and thinking it isn’t for me was wrong.
⇒Being outside. I’ve started taking short walks at work before I eat lunch.
What are you loving right now? What brings you peace of mind? Have you tried meditation?
Before we get to the link up! A big thank you to Nicole at Mama In Sweats for allowing me to guest post!
It’s almost time to start a new training cycle and I’m approaching it with a perspective and a mindset unlike ever before. A combination of what has worked and what I’ve learned over the past 12 months sets me up for success.

I am focusing on running for fun. Not worrying about pace, speed or even distance. Just running and being thankful that I can. 🙂
There is not much for me to love right now. I’m sick with tonsillitis (a server case this time around), and everything is just exhausting.
However I’m loving in saying that I’m loving how awesome my partner is for helping me in my hour of need.
Yoga is about the closest that I have come to meditation, I don’t know that that counts. My piece of mind comes from nature and family.
Oh I love the fact you are growing a garden just like me!!! I am so excited and can’t wait to see how well everything grows. My cousin started her garden and her veggies are sprouting up quick. She used a good mix of hummus and manure which really feeds the plants extremely well.
Jill, I couldn’t agree more how a healthy body, starts first with a healthy mind. I think far too often people become caught up in the physical aspect of health, they let their emotional/mental health fall to the way side, even embarking on detrimental practices! I am jealous of your garden, I do not have a green thumb, and as for meditation, i feel like we are very similar in the sense where I feel “it’s not for me” and have yet to try it…I have a hard time relaxing, so I can’t imagine just SITTING there and meditating!
I LOVE your little garden!!!
I’m loving the weather. I think the lack of sunshine so much over the winter definitely made a difference. I need my vitamin D! Love your positive posts, Jill! 🙂
I’m loving where you are right now, at peace and in tune with your life. It gives us such encouragement each day! <3
These days I love my flower gardens. There is nothing better than working in the dirt to give you peace of mind 🙂
I love that you mentioned laughable recipes. Some of my most memorable meals have been disasters. My husband and I often refer to “the biscuit incident of 2012” and laugh every time! (it was a paleo biscuit recipe that should not have been allowed on the internet. They tasted like sand.)
I’m new to the blogging world but I’ve found that writing really helps calm my brain down. It has given me a creative outlet that I never knew how much I needed.
Your garden is coming along so nicely! I loved your letter to my body post. It was wonderful.
Peace of mind is something that I tend to struggle with – I have a hard time stepping back sometimes. The summer is always a bit better – something about time outside with a good book helps a lot!!!
I do love baking bread 🙂
I miss having a little garden–it was so nice having one, especially with the kids and I loved just being outside with it. We moved and need to do our backyard still, so no garden this year, which is really a bummer. Hopefully next year! At least we have some herbs growing wild in big bushes back there!
I’d have to say that just being outside gives me peace of mind. And swinging. I love swinging–it’s my peaceful place.
Such a great reminder that a healthy outside begins with the inside! I love yoga whenever I go to a class, but struggle to relax on my own. Something about having an instructor helps my mind turn off!
Prenatal yoga brings an overwhelming amount of peace over my body. I absolutely love it. I forget about everything and just relax and focus on stretching and the babies. I always leave that class feeling wonderful!
Love meditation. Don’t practice it nearly as often as I should, but it’s always nice to disconnect and just be with your self.
I’ve honestly had a rough last two weeks with my training. My body seems to be fighting me as I’m increasing intensity and length of my workouts. I’m not sure if I’m still recovering from my injury or just the stress of work the last few weeks (it’s been bad). But I will say that pushing myself to still get out there and try to do the best I can, gives me peace of mind. I get frustrated with myself but I tell myself it’s ok to pull back a little right now. I’m finding more open to accepting that.
I’m so glad you’ve given meditation a try and are finding it works for you! You know I’m a big believer! Right now I’m loving being out in my garden – forces me to slow down!
I’m loving being back to running longer distances! It gives me time to be alone with my thoughts and enjoy the outdoors.
I’m loving the nice weather and taking my homeroom students outside for little fresh air every Wednesday 🙂
Love these!! I’m still working on the meditation thing – I’m just not good at it! Do you plan to share what resources you’re using, if any? Going to Colorado for a week definitely gave me the peace of mind I was craving!
Getting away for most of the last week and unplugging brought me peace of mind- there’s something to relaxing about being closer to nature. Gardening is really therapeutic, too. Have a great weekend, Jill!
What’s bringing me peace of mind (and also, if I am honest, some trepidation) is the knowledge that there is only more to come. What brings me peace of mind to deal with any of the nervousness is knowing that I have an amazing husband, family, and friends to be there with me along the way.
I see the benefits of meditation but i can’t stop my inner voice .
A BIG, GIGANTIC, HUGE Thank You for guest posting, Jill! Absolutely LOVE your tips for training for a goal race. Now I just need to get one on my calendar and start applying your advice!
My peace of mind? Being with my family, hitting the trails, and soaking up the sun as much as possible!
Just being outside gives me piece of mind!
What a perfect time to linkup “4 Ways to Zen Out!” Although gardening wasn’t on my list, I certainly want to add it. Basil, cilantro, romaine lettuce and jalapenos are all on my list 🙂
Love this Jill, as I love all your posts! I have to agree with jojo, I struggle to switch off, but yoga is one way I can get out of my own head!
Yoga. It’s my time to take a pause and be mindful
I’m loving the gift of time which is only going to increase as we get closer to summer! I’m loving my morning runs the after dinner bike rides to the park and all things SUMMER!
