Welcome to the New Jill Conyers

Change Is Good

One of my goals for 2014 was to increase readership by 33%. Goal accomplished! Actually, bragging just a little here, in about 1 year I tripled my readership! I was shocked! Analytics I never dreamed of!

It was time for a change.

Changing Fitness, Health and Happiness to Jill Conyers is something I’ve considered since a conversation I had when I attended the Runners World Half and Festival in 2012 as a blogger. A few more questions and recommendations and I decided to make the change. What better time than as part of a blog makeover. Fitness, Health and Happiness isn’t totally gone. It’s now the tagline of Jill Conyers dot com and describes my vision for this blog and life in general.

To accomplish my goal, I read a mind numbing amount of information on blogging, set goals, stalked amazing bloggers to learn from the best and listened to recommendations. I knew adding more time to blog wasn’t an option and I still have a full time job. I know it’s very cliche-ish but in the end I basically worked smarter not harder. A few more things on the blog to-do list and a tweak here and there and all will be as I’ve imagined.

I’m excited to start sharing some of the plans for Jill Conyers [dot] com that have been in the works. Coming soon: a new recipe, and yes, another link up that is going to be epic, giveaways, and of course more on running, fitness and nutrition. Stay tuned!

If you’re considering a makeover or any type of blog design changes I highly recommend the services of Natasha at My Cute Lobster Designs. She is wonderful to work with and amazingly talented.

I’m so excited to announce the winners of one of my all time favorite giveaways, Be True To You!

For me right now I’m just happy doing my own thing. I know exactly what I need to focus on, and the blog is not it at the moment. But I’m ok with that.
    Love the new look too.

    1. “For me” is what’s important in what we do. Whatever we choose to focus on it has to be what is right for us and when that changes, as it always will, we change with it.

  7. I’ve been following your blog since becoming a blogger myself nine months ago and love seeing change and progression. I actually had Natasha redesign my blog about a month ago and had a great experience with her as well. It’s fun to work with someone and see a final product that reflects who you are. Can’t wait to see what changes you have in store!

    1. Thanks Gigi! I like change and always have. It’s a great way to refresh and rejuvenate 🙂

  12. Howdy! I am very new to blogging and don’t know very much about it yet but wanted a way to track my progress better and hopefully motivate others to live healthier lifestyles and be happy. I’ve been running for 6 years now and want to focus on training and diet to perfect my performance this year and thought blogging would be a great idea. I don’t know what your site looked like prior to now, but it looks a ton better than mine lol.

I don’t even know how to follow people yet, i just bookmark them lol. Im sure the more i read and blog the better i’ll become. I saw you live in ohio as i do. I am more of a marathoner but have jumped into the ultra scene a little. I’ve done a double marathon and a few 50ks but no 100 milers yet. Someday i’m sure, i’m looking forward to your blog and learning what i can from ya. Maybe i’ll see you on a race course sometime. Happy running!

  13. Yes, change is good! As runners, we know the importance of change and how just a small change or rethinking our approach can bring BIG results. Good for you for taking that leap. The new look looks great! I also have been thinking about changing my blog design to match more of what I am about. I’m still a mom on the run, but I think I need to add more detail to what that means. I also really need to clean up my sidebar.

I have a pretty large readership, but my blogging goals relate more to social media. I need to grow my audience on Pinterest and Instagram. Plus, I have my alter-ego, the Tampa Bay Bloggers, which a hyperlocal network I founded. I’m really focused on trying to grow that business and bring brands to Tampa. Our overall mission is to demonstrate Tampa as a thriving market to revival Orlando, Miami and Jacksonville. which a pretty big blogging/business goal.

It’s so funny how blogging has changed over the years. More and more bloggers are using their real names whereas years ago, bloggers used clever catchphrases and titles. We referred to bloggers as Scary Mommy, Momisodes or DudeMom and never knew or used their real names! Part of me as a writer prefers the catchy titles but I can see how using your real name makes you more accessible.

Wishing you, your name and your new look all the best! xox

    1. Thank you Denise! We should chat sometime and share ideas for growing our social media 🙂

  14. Love it Jill! Change seems to be everywhere this spring. It took me over a year to make the big change for my blog. I am glad I did it. Good luck! I look forward to watching your .com grow 🙂

    1. Thanks Rebecca! One of my goals was to declutter so I’m happy to hear the redesign looks “clean” 🙂

    1. Thank you Lynda! I’m looking forward to partnering with you for the link up 🙂

  15. Love the new look, Jill, and I love Natasha! Yay for tripling your readers- so fantastic! Can’t wait to hear what all the new year has in store for you.

    1. Thanks Laura 🙂 Tasha was so great and even now after the redesign is complete she is so helpful.

  16. Love the new site Jill! Change is scary (for me) and I think for most people, but if it feels right in your gut, it’s probably the right thing to do! Cheers! Tara xo

    1. Hi Tara! Still a tiny bit of uncertainty about changing the name but like you said, if it feels right 🙂

  17. congrats on your increase! Right now my goal is just to be posting every day and provide readers with valuable information so that they keep coming back! I just started blogging 3 months ago so just trying to get in the hang of it, BUT I do have some big goals by the end of the year (:

    1. Hi Hayley and thank you! You’re off to a great start and I have no doubt you will reach your goals.

  18. Isn’t a new blog so refreshing. I am currently working on revamping my business – changing the name, redesigning the website, trying to increase my readership. It’s not easy. Incredibly time consuming and loads to do. But I love it and it will be worth it.

You did a great job here!

    1. Thank you Irene. Yes, it can be time consuming but if you enjoy it it’s not so bad. Let me know when your redesign is complete 🙂

  19. Way to go on reaching your blogging goal! That is so awesome! We’re sweet potato obsessed in my house too, so your meal plan’s looking pretty great!

    1. Thanks Laura! Tasha has been great and so helpful even now after the makeover is complete.

  20. i love it!! but i love you more and your desire to do BIG things! <3

  21. Love the new design and colors, Jill! Very inviting. I’m constantly making changes to my blog design but that’s just because I enjoy the back end of blogging. I know it’s not great for my statistics but I’m okay with that. I’ve taken a step back from blogging as a business and really want to just focus on it being a hobby. But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to hear how you built your traffic up so much. I would love to hear that!

    1. Hi Carla. I enjoy the front and back end of blogging. Always learning something new!

One day we’ll have to chat 🙂

  22. Love the new look & can’t wait to see what you have in store! You do a fabulous job balancing blog, job, fitness & family. You’re an inspiration to all!

    1. Thank you Nicole. It’s a constant juggling act. It’s my life and I love it 🙂

  23. Love the new look. My main goal for blogging is to blog less, but I don’t seem to be able to hold back! Blogging really is my therapy — or at least the part where I “put on paper” the things I work out in my head while I’m running!

    1. LOL that’s not a problem I hear often. Usually it’s the opposite. Why blog less if what you’re doing is working for you and we all benefit 🙂

  24. It will be fun to see the changes you make on your blog. Using your name makes it easier to find your blog. Great idea!

    1. Thanks Tina! I was so unsure about whether or not to change the name. I’m happy I did…I think 😉 Still a little unsure 🙂

  25. Yay Jill! It looks wonderful! So happy for you! Of course change is good, especially in the wonderful way you always present it! I cant wait to see what the future holds for you. I am trying to accept change right now as I do not know where in the country (world) I will be in 6 months, and I am starting to look for a job after my MBA finishes in May. I am accepting that the right opportunity will open up when the time is right, I just have to be willing to trust. Scary, but I believe things will work out.

    1. Are you planning to stay in the country? I am thinking about making a change too and have been looking at the big running cities in the U.S. lol. That’s at least a start, right? Warmer weather with a great running scene and mountains is such a dream but hopefully not out of reach.

      1. i’m sorry i’m new to blogging and typed my website incorrectly, maybe that’s why my photo wasn’t posted.

    2. Tina, the trust part can be so scary. I have no doubt there are going to be amazing things happening in your future no matter where in the world you end up. May is so close! Almost done!!

Cheers to both of our futures and opportunities 🙂

    1. She is! And continues to be so supportive and helpful even though the makeover is complete.
