I’m working on a few new recipes and loving the process…fails and all!
I’m anxious my doctor’s appointment in May to have my thyroid levels checked. I’m cautiously optimistic I’m going to see a change!
Chad and I finally found time to watch
Unbreakable, the Western States 100.
Unbreakable is a must see for all runners especially if you’re even remotely interested in ultrarunning. It’s nothing short of awe inspiring. Watching it makes you want to get off the couch and go for a run.
In 2010, four of the greatest undefeated mountain runners on earth toed the starting line at the Western States 100-mile endurance run, the oldest and most prestigious 100-mile foot race in the world.
- Hal Koerner, two time defending Western States champion, and running store entrepreneur from Ashland, Oregon.
- Geoff Roes, undefeated at the 100-mile distance, an organic chef from Juneau, Alaska.
- Anton Krupicka, undefeated in every ultramarathon he has ever started, a graduate student living in Boulder, Colorado.
- Kilian Jornet, the young mountain runner and two time Ultra-trail du Mont-Blanc champion, from Spain.
Their goal is the same: win the Western States 100-mile run. A win will require breaking the course record and running the fastest time in the history of the race.
Imagine how it would feel to be at the starting line with them. For my husband and I it would be like my daughter meeting Justin Bieber. Add Scott Jurek and you would have a line up of my most admired ultrarunners.
As of right now, I don’t know who won. When I went to bed they were at the half way point so it’s to be continued today when I get home from work.. Talk about a cliff hanger!
I’m often asked,
How do you stay motivated?
How do you get up so early every day to workout?
This weekend I decided that if I had to pick one answer it would be health and fitness are my passions. When I’m passionate about something it does’t feel like a chore that I have to do. Oh sure there are days when I don’t feel like running and you go through an unmotivated slump but all in all doing the things I’m passionate about bring me a tremendous amount of joy and satisfaction. And that joy makes it easy to get out of bed everyday. That passion makes life
AMAZING and why I won’t give up on my goal to run a 50 mile event!
