Life with my daughter. Determination. Confidence in the kitchen. A challenge.
My daughter has been a competitive cheerleader for years but, on Friday, we watched her experience something completely different. She cheered at her first high school football game. And loved it! Another marvelous about my daughter. She came home from school and told me about a conversation with her friends. It went something like,
“Why do you tell your mom everything?” and her reply was, “why not?”
She was so matter of fact about it. Like it was the only logical answer. Being a mom doesn’t get any better than that.
It has been 4 weeks since the last time I ran. No, that’s not marvelous. What is marvelous is that I have surprised myself. Don’t get me wrong, there have been moments of total frustration, but with that frustration there has been a determination that I didn’t know I had. I’ve stayed as active as possible with strength training and yoga even on the days when I didn’t want to! With any luck this will help make my return to running easier.
I’m a follow the recipe person. I love cookbooks and I rarely alter the recipes. Until now! Lately, I’ve spent more time in the kitchen experimenting with different foods and ingredients focusing on nutrition and amazing new-to-me flavor combinations. I have always relied on cookbooks or Pinterest for recipes. It’s nice to realize that I can create a dish that is just as good and nutritious as a recipe from a cookbook.
I joined a 30 day challenge on Challenge Loop hosted by Jennifer at Wine to Weightlifting. The challenge is taking 15 minutes anytime during the day to focus on stretching and mobility. Another step closer to my return to running and it just feels good.
