Essential Tools of a Well Stocked Kitchen

Efficiency In the Kitchen

I’ve noticed I have certain things in my kitchen that are used at least daily if not multiple times a day. We cook often and finding ways to save time is important. The most-used kitchen items center around not only completing a task but doing so as efficiently as possible. In other words, tools that do the job and save me time.

  1. Blender. Probably one of the most versatile most used tools in my kitchen and it’s not just for smoothies.
  2. Hand juicer. Quick and easy.
  3. Multiple sets of measuring spoons. Multiples so there is always a clean set.
  4. Multiple liquid measuring cups. See above.
  5. Multiple solid measuring cups. See above.
  6. Kitchen scale. I was surprised by how often I use this.
  7. Herb chopper. Honestly, this is one of the best kitchen inventions ever! Chops fresh herbs quickly and easily.
  8. Food processor. Chopped salads with ease!

  1. I am a huge fan of that lemon squeezer thing, although I could live without it. The things I use the most are large mixing bowls, measuring cups and tupperware!

  2. I always use my mini-cutting board so I don’t have to lug the big one out, and for chopping my herbs, I got a mini-chopper from Sur la Table and it is amazing!

  3. I agree with you on everything! I just recently got that Vitamix and have no idea how I lived without it. So far we’ve only made smoothies, but many, many smoothies!! Now I need that kitchen scale 🙂

    1. Try soups in the Vitamix. It’s kind of cool how it actually heats the recipe 🙂

  4. I would be lost without my food processor! It’s a small once since I am really only preparing food for myself, but for how often I use it, I might have to upgrade to a big one. I love making salsa or hummus, or even using it puree various soups! Seriously, it’s my favorite appliance.

    1. It’s tough to say whether I would choose my food processor or the Vitamix as my favorite. Fortunately I don’t have to 🙂 Nothing compares to my salsa recipe using the food processor. Yum!

  5. I so needed this!! Jake and I started to register for our wedding, and I called my mom after kind of overwhelmed. Living at home has me thrown for a loop about what we will need. I’ve already added these to our Target list! 🙂 Thank you!

    1. Overwhelmed I’m sure! It’s hard to imagine what you will (or might) need. I wish someone would have told me about these few basics when Chad and I got married.

  6. I love my little immersion blender- it came with a smoothie cup and is so much faster to clean then the big blender. Perfect for soups, too!

  7. My favorite kitchen essential is actually my crock pot(s)! I use them year round – and love them in the summer because I can cook without heating my house.

    1. I use my crockpot a lot in the winter and fall for soups. Not so much during the rest of the year. Love the convenience!

  8. I want that herb chopper! No, wait…I NEED that herb chopper! 🙂 Plus I need a larger food processor like the one pictured. Luckily I have everything else you listed and I too use them all the time.

    1. Get the herb chopper! It works amazingly well and fast. I can’t imagine going back to cutting herbs with a regular knife.

    1. Me too! I need to find space on my counter for it instead of putting in the cabinet after every time I use it.

  9. I use my blender daily. Actually it broke last week (it’s super old) so now I’m making my smoothies in the food processor. So I guess I’d add food processor to the list.

    1. Hi Carli. I think if I had to pick one tool it would be my Vitamix. Happily I don’t have to pick just one 🙂

  10. I agree! I think that my weekly veggie deliveries are also vital!
