Eat Seasonably: Summer Fruits and Vegetables

Menu Planning

First Day of Summer

Summertime is almost here! For menu planning that means the oven and stove are used less often, the grill is used almost daily, and more fresh fruit and vegetable salads, sandwiches and snacks. It’s the best time of year to enjoy the tastes and textures of the season. It’s seasonal eating at its best!

This is the perfect time to try infused waters. Strawberry-Basil is still my favorite. I’m going to try a blueberry combination this week!

  1. Thank you for this great post, with a toddler in school that i pack lunches for thsi is helpful!

  2. I eat pretty much the same all year round except to change out veggies or fruit that is only available certain times a year. 🙂

  3. Yum yum yum! Feel free to bring any leftover to my house 😉

  4. After our most recent weather, summer seems very far away still. Bummer since I love everything that grows during this time. Hurry up warm weather and make my garden grow!

  5. It weird but I tend to eat the same foods EVERY day, regardless as to whether it’s summer, winter, fall or spring! My stomach and digestion are very fickle so I have to be wary and I get scared to mix things up! 🙁 That being said, SALMON is always delicious year round!

  6. I have been meaning to try fruit infused water. Strawberry basil sounds yummy!

  7. I’ve never tried infused water – maybe this summer I will give it a try!!!

  8. Yum, that strawberry-basil water looks good! I didn’t consider the season much with my menu planning this week, because our weather has been all over the place lately…mostly cool and windy. 🙁

  9. Your meal plan looks great. Does the rest of your family eat vegetarian, too? I’ve really been trying to incorporate more meatless meals into our routine, but my husband is pretty resistant. Any suggestions?

  10. i love eating tons of fresh fruits and veggies in the summer! well i like to all year round but i definitely tend to visit the farmer’s market more in the summer!

  11. Love your fruity pics- they made me hungry! 🙂 I’m doing some serious food prep this week. My husband finally decided he needed to join me in adopting some healthy eating habits. I’m thrilled- but it’s twice the prep. (seriously, not complaining here.)

  12. I’ve been throwing a few slices of cucumber in my glass recently. I find that I don’t even have to let it sit–my first glass is delicious, and I can keep the cucumbers for refill after refill. This has been a GREAT way to help me give up my unhealthy diet soda addiction 🙂

  13. So glad I saw these ideas! I decided to tackle my eating this week. My goal is to get more fruits and veggies into my meals. So, this morning, I started with a smoothie made from fruit, greens, oj, and yogurt. My plan is to finally get rid of the extra pounds I put on while waiting for my ankle to heal.

  14. Love your meal plan! I try to switch things up but generally go back to my old favorites for prepping meals.
    SPA LOVE!
