Welcome to Fitness Friday #92! (I have to find a way to celebrate Fitness Friday #100!)
I’ve had a secret for the past few days I’ve been dying to share! Typically, when I have a race coming up I talk about it. Share it. Basically, announce it to the world. Sharing my excitement is part of the fun. This time, before I shared with anyone, I had to be sure. And anyone that knows me knows that I’m not an impromptu kind of person. I like to plan. I’m out of my comfort zone in so many ways.
I’m running an impromptu ultramarathon tomorrow!
So freakin’ excited, nervous and a little bit of freaking out all at the same time. Just thinking about it gives me butterflies.
Is an impromptu ultra crazy? Wait before you answer hear me out. Goal #1 is to run a 24 mile training run. Goal #2 is to practice all that I’ve been reading about, eating, pace, aid stations, walking, etc. Goal #3 is to finish. I ran 31 miles in the Hawthorn Half Day Relay with Chad which was my distance [Relay] PR. That is as close as I’ve ever come to running 32 miles. This will be my longest run (trail or road) ever, it’s on trails and sections of the course are described as very technical. I’m not going into this thinking DNF but I would be lying if I said it wasn’t a very tiny tiny thought in the back of my mind. Honestly, I’m confident that I can finish. It won’t be pretty and I may be last but I will cross the finish line. Now. Do you think it’s crazy?
It’s just another training run right?
I woke up this morning with a message from Chad. He makes me feel like I can do anything!
A prediction of perfect running weather.
What are your plans for the weekend? Races? Training? Resting? Are you an impromptu kind of person? Do you think this is a crazy idea?
Have a great weekend!
