After running Air Force my focus has been on the Hat Trick at the Runner’s World Half and Festival. With the help of Coach Christine and my rearranging of the plan, last weekend training included running 3 distances on 3 consecutive days. It worked wonders for 1. there is less of an unknown factor so the concept of running 3 races in one weekend is less daunting now, 2. I have a better idea of what it feels like to run on tired legs and 3. I came up with a race strategies for the weekend. (Please disregard the blurry images. Ugh! My new phone with a better camera will be delivered this week!)
On day 3 my legs were tight and a little sore so the start for the 12 miles was a bit slower than usual, but it didn’t last. After a mile or so of warming up I felt fine. Weekend training was a success and the weather couldn’t have been better!
Have you ever run multiple races in one weekend? Do you change your training for different types of races and depending on your goal? Are you training for a running event now?
