After years of a Droid I’m now a new owner of an iPhone 5 and loving it! Instead of transferring everything from my Droid I’m starting with new health and fitness apps.
There’s an app for that is true for almost anything…running, fitness, and nutrition is no exception. Whether you’re a beginning runner, triathlete or yogi there is probably an app that will give you what you need conveniently and on the go. A coach? Tracking calories? Tracking mileage or routes? Cross training workouts? Yes. There’s an app for that.
Apps that have made it to my top 5 6 possible downloads:
Run Keeper (iPhone and Android)
Every feature you could possibly need or want for a variety of sports. The Run Keeper enables GPS tracking, distance, speed monitoring, caloric output, and activity history. You can use it just for running or in other sports, including cycling, hiking, skiing, and swimming.

There are so many apps to choose from for every possible health and fitness need!
What is your go-to health and fitness app? What apps would be on your Top 5 list?
For Android users i suggest Ultra Fitness app , great for home workout
Hello There. I found your weblog the usage of
msn. This is a very well written article. I’ll be sure to bookmark it and come
back to learn extra of your useful info. Thank you for the post.
I’ll definitely comeback.
This is a great list. I don’t use any of those, so I will have to try them. I am curious though, why did you swap from droid to iPhone? Because I was thinking of going from iPhone to Droid!
my favorite health and fitness apps are two you mentioned (NTC and runkeeper), but i also like electric mile (links to your daily mile account) and GYMPACT. with gympact you either check in at your gym or it logs your runs via runkeeper and you get paid for working out! i love it!
I haven’t gotten on the fitness app train yet, I don’t bring my phone with me when I run so that would be a problem haha. I think that some of these would be fun to look into though.
Great List Jill! I’m using mapmyrun and nike running. I also hop on PATH and nike training too!
Hi Rani! How are you?
I love my fitness pal! great post!
Hi Natalie. I know a lot of people that use FP and love it!
I upgraded too, and in the past my phone couldn’t handle the newer apps; maybe I should take a look at some of these–thanks for helping with a starting point!
Maybe one or 2 will be an app you NEED! Nike Training Club seems to be one of the most popular. Enjoy your new iPhone 🙂
The Nike NTC is my favorite fitness app followed by Runmeter, which I love for tracking my run because it tracks my running info in so many ways. I have to check some of these you listed here.
Hi Angie. NTC seems to be a favorite of many. I’m starting the workouts right after Runner’s World this weekend!
I’m kind of jealous that you have the iPhone 5 too!! This a great round-up. I love Nike Training Club. The workouts are great. I use Map My Run but will now need to look into the others that you mention. Thanks for sharing this!
Hi Christine! Right after Runner’s World this weekend I’m going to start the NTC workouts. It looks awesome!
I wish I owned an iphone. I love fooducate! Great run down of fitness apps!
Thanks Lisa. Fooducate is a favorite!
Great round-up – and kind of jealous that you got a 5! Runkeeper and Runtastic look excellent, but I have to admit that I never take my pone with me on a run. I know that’s kind of dangerous, but there’ something about feeling offline – it’s the only time hen I don’t have technology going off at me, and it makes me feel free 🙂
I get it Kate. It seems like we’re always online…because we are! And you’re right. It’s freeing 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing – I use Runkeeper but am definitely going to have a look at the others that you mentioned.
Have a great day !
Me
Thanks Me! A great day to you too!
LOVE my iPhone! And I love the Nike training app! So awesome!
Me too Mindy and I’m adding the Nike training app for sure!
the only app that I have that you listed is the nike one. and boy is that a great one! i use Nike+ to track my running GPS style. I also have tabata Timer. A Card workout app and charity miles. all of them are wonderful! I hope you are loving your iPhone 5 (:
Hi Danielle. Yes! Loving my iPhone 🙂 It’s habit forming!
I’m not very familiar with tabata. What is a tabata timer?
tabata is a circuit workout… 20 seconds on 10 seconds off. so it just times it for you!
love my iphone5. i love Seconds Pro. great for interval workouts, HIIT, etc.
Hi Glenneth. I love interval workouts. Adding Seconds Pro to my list to try 🙂
So many of these I hadn’t heard of before! Thanks 🙂
Hi Kierston. Maybe one will be something you need 🙂
I think I’ve used all these apps at one time! My go to ones these days are runkeeper, myfitnesspal, and fit radio (great tunes while your working out!)
Hi Andrea. I’m intrigued by Fit Radio. So many options!
Omg I really need some of these, thanks for sharing!
Now to narrow it down and not download them all 🙂
I have most of these on my iPhone! Great list 🙂
Hi Madeline. Is one of them your favorite and most often used?
I use RunKeeper for running and Nike Training Club when I need at home workouts. I love Fooducate when trying to choose between products. When I was tracking calories (needed to eat MORE to supplement working out and breastfeeding) I used MyFitnessPal every single day. Love the bar code scanner on there.
Im not an apper but my husband LOOOVES ALL THINGS RUNTASTIC.
Runtastic is at the top of my list to try.
