I had several topics I wanted to blog about but after my doctor’s appointment on Tuesday and my run on Wednesday all I can think about is being healthy and excited about running again. So the other topics will have to wait.
Tomorrow I’m running the Air Force Half Marathon, half #10! One of my all-time favorite races. This is my goal race but I’m keeping in mind the setback in training over the summer. I’m going to give it all I have and shoot for my goal of a sub-2:00. If it doesn’t happen this time there is always the next half. Disappointed if I don’t reach my goal? Maybe a little, but I’m going into this race knowing it’s my favorite, I’m healthy and I can breathe!
One of my next races? The 2012 Runner’s World Half and Festival in Bethlehem, PA.
Check out the weekend schedule:
Each month, Runner’s World magazine brims with top-notch advice, motivation, gripping storytelling, and even some laughs. For one special weekend this fall, we’re bringing it all to life – just for you.
The Runner’s World Half & Festival is all about YOU, our readers, and the schedule reflects that. From Friday through Sunday, you will…
- Meet and mingle with your favorite Runner’s World editors and writers, including Bart Yasso, Dean Karnazes, Kristin Armstrong, and Marc Parent
- Get expert tips at our seminars on gear, training, nutrition, and more
- Be inspired by Matt Long, the New York City firefighter whose journey from near-death to the NYC Marathon finish line we featured in our pages
- Join us for inspirational running films, such as “Ultramarathon Man” and “Hood to Coast,” followed by audience Q&A
- Fuel up with us at our prerace pasta dinner
By the time the actual races roll around, you’ll be primed for the run of a lifetime – followed, of course, by a celebratory postrace party!
An added bonus is running the Hat Trick! I’m taking on the challenge to run the RW 5k, 10k and half that weekend. That will definitely be a first for me. I can’t wait!
Runner’s World has generously offered a discount to my readers! Just use this code BLOGGER24 to register!
And last but definitely not least, a fall ultra with my husband. We were going to run the Owen Putnam State Forest Ultra 50/50, but have had to change our plans due to date conflicts with one of my daughter’s cheer competitions. No worries. We’ll find one for November and if not there is always next year.
So that’s a glimpse of some of the things happening for the remainder of the year. And yes, I’m already thinking about 2013!
It feels so good to be excited about running again 🙂
Speaking of excited! The last thing I did last night before going to bed!
What are your plans for the rest of 2012? Have you started thinking about what you want to accomplish in 2013? What are you excited about?
