The definition of insanity – Albert Einstein
doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Over the past few weeks this quote keeps coming to mind as I thought about running and training specifically for 2 2012 goals, run an endurance relay and a sub 2:00 half mary. For the most part I have always trained with gradually increasing mileage. At first it worked. There was progress. Now? Not so much. Like the definition of insanity implies I needed to do something different.
Meet my running coach, Christine of Dream Big Runner, RRCA certified. She is going to help me do things a little different. I asked Christine whether or not running a sub-2:00 half marathon was a realistic goal this year and her reply,
“Let’s shoot for the 2 hours! Why not!!?? Dream BIG!!”
This was my first “coached” week and the new training plan. Thoughts so far:
- I like the accountability for those days when it’s a PITA to find time to run.
- I like how the runs are more purposeful and have less ambiguity.
- I’m a detail kind of person and Christine is helping me see the big picture of training.
- I’m learning how to use Training Peaks to upload and analyze my running/training. As a data person this is perfect.
