Another option is to right click and save and insert as an image with the link below while I try to figure out what the problem is. I have checked and double checked the html. I can’t find a problem so I’m not sure what to fix. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.


New year’s resolutions and goals. I’m sure you’ve seen the magazines, blog posts, and newspaper articles. Maybe even chatted about it with friends.

Goalthe object of a person’s ambition or effort; an aim or desired result; the destination of a journey

Every year I set 6-8 goals to keep me focused, learning and moving forward. If I had to guess I’d say I have had a 95% success rate over the past 4 years.

This year it occurred to me that, while there is always room for improvement, I don’t want a new me.

For 2012 I want more of who I have become. I’m more along the lines of a fresh start. New goals. New challenges. Learning.

Pin It

1. Run [at least] 12 half marathons.
2. Run an endurance relay.
3. A half marathon PR.
4. Complete P90X2 90-day challenge.

Creating 1. Complete Project Life


1. Complete a 52 week photo challenge, 52 Weeks of Chad and Jill

Life 1. Maintain a B-A-L-A-N-C-E. (Not really measurable. I’ll just know if I am accomplishing this goal.)

Is it doable? Yes. Realistic? I think so. Measurable? For the most part. Motivated? Most definitely! Do you set goals? I’ve read a lot about how, more often than not, setting goals leads to unrealistic expectations and failure. What do you think? Are goals helpful and motivating or frustrating?   5. Balance is so important and I like your attitude and how you expressed yourself. I’m working on my goals, in order for me to make them work I have to sit down and write them out and make a plan.

    1. I will accomplish the elusive balance! Putting your goals in writing is one of the keys to success. Another is to make them public/share.

  6. I’m still working through a goals post… I like to set a few, but nothing too far-reaching. I like that yours are simple and specific. Balance is so important too, and I know what you mean, that although it’s not measurable, you’ll know if you hit it! Project Life looks amazing… wish I had photography skills! Happy New Year!

    I have some goals for healing my foot and getting some running fitness back. I am going to try to broaden my fitness horizons by trying new things….I like goals – but like you I don't think I need a "new" me – just an enhanced version maybe! 🙂

  9. I like goals. But, they have to be with a plan behind them in order for them to work. I think sometimes I have unrealistic expectations behind my goals, but, by at least trying, I feel I get farther than I did without trying to begin with.

    And, no, your button isn’t working for me either. 🙁

  10. I like your goals! Very straight forward! I am a goal setter and a planner, and I always start off with one or two, but most of my goals come along during the year. I don’t want to limit myself OR overwhelm myself in January. I think that is why many people do fail in their goals. Right now I have the 12 in 2012…the rest will follow!

  12. You know you’re in a good place in your life when you DON’T want a new you, I think thats awesome how you’re satisfied with everything… something I’m aiming for.

    1. It has taken me forever to get to that place and it feels wonderful and kind of surreal.

    I agree with you that goals are good and don’t find them to be frustrating. I am not certain what my goals are for this year, haven’t really thought about it. At this point they’re vague, like save money or eat healthier. I guess I should be more specific so I’m more motivated and accountable for keeping them.

  14. wow Jill, you continue to inspire me! I’m setting my running goals, and then I am also setting some mini goals to do monthly and if they carry on longer, that’s great too! I’m still trying to figure out changing of all buttons on type pad to add fitness friday new logo

  15. I couldn’t get your button to work, so I put the image and a link at the bottom of my page.
    I think goals set people up for failure when they fail to differentiate between goals and wishes. A goal has to have a plan behind it!

  16. I need to fit my link, I didn’t use the old one but I know where I messed up! Will fix as soon as I get on my computer!

    I think goals are 100% important to actually accomplish thing but I think so often they are made willy nilly style. I think it’s sad how goals get such a bad wrap! I am glad you have made some and I know you can do it!

    I did project 52 and project life in the past! It’s lots of fun!
