Recent new-to-me that I've tried-and-love or want-to-try

First, tried and love

Pace Tattoo
When you signed up for a pace group in Chicago you also got a pace tattoo. This was my first time using a pace guide of any sort and while it's not totally necessary I liked having it. Loved keeping track and using it to calculate a variety of things when I needed a distraction. Plus, it was a conversation piece for people that decided not to use theirs. Do you use a pacing guide during races?

Next tried and loveiFitness Running Belts. The belts are a product that hold up to their claims of "no bounce, riding or chafing." A favorite point is that the pouch stays flat. And I love that they come with the race number holder. I have several to use depending on the type of run. Do you have a favorite fuel belt? Do you wear a water belt during races?

Now, want to try

Accel Gel
For the convenience and energy I've been on a mission to find a gel that I can stomach. A friend highly recommended Accel Gel and was kind enough to give me 2 to try. After doing a little research I'm going to try one of these during my next long run. Usually, just the thought of consuming a gel makes me want to gag. The texture and they're just way too sweet. I'm actually looking forward to trying Accel. Do you use energy gels? Do you have a favorite brand or flavor?

What new-to-you have you tried lately?

  1. I have tried them, but only once…guess once my mileage really increases, I'll need them more frequently! wish I would have linked up this week…I keep forgetting on FRiday's!

  2. Hi Joni. No belt is what I was going for but didn't like holding anything. My husband is like you. He's never run with a belt and carries a water bottle.

  3. Very cool belt! I've never run with a belt before. I hold a water bottle in my hand, and tie my key to the shorts drawstring. I have a Sansa Clip mp3 player that I clip that on my bra strap and I'm ready to run!

  4. i have the double pocket belt too, but i have a silly question… how do you attach your number? mine's too wide to put outside of the pockets, and if you move them in you can't open the zippers?

  5. Hi Tamara. The single pouch would be perfect for the gym and definitely cheaper than Lulu pants. Happy Fitness Friday!

  6. The Accel is supposedly thinner and that's what makes it so different from other gels. Trying it this weekend. I'll blog a review.

  7. Hi Amy. Now that's a mom's dedication…eating, I'm assuming, more than one gel for the sake of a science fair project  🙂

  10. Totally love that race belt!
I need a new one; not for racing (I'm not a runner; shocking, isn't it!), but for wearing in the gym. I'm tired of my iPod slipping down my pants (while I have a few pairs of the Lulu pants that have and iPod pocket, I do some days have to wear the ones that don't…). Race belt has to be cheaper than a new pair of Lulu pants…
    Happy Fitness Friday Blog Hop!

  11. I tried the clif gel Razz flavor and almost threw up. I am going to try the stingers you suggested!!!
I love that pace tattoo! I have never tried a pace band or tattoo!

  12. Interesting stuff … my Cole just ran 21K yesterday during his school walkathon. It was a random decision he made in the morning and he's paying for it to day as he can't move very well! I've suggested maybe he should train for next year! Just wondering, do you have any idea if 1:44 is a good time for a half marathon? I have zero frame of reference and you're my expert!

  13. I can't stand gels either. They are usually so thick I can't even swallow them during the race. I am curious to know how the Accel gels work. Keep us posted:)

  14. I love the looks of your belt – I have a fanny pack that holds water that I wear during regular runs, but would like something smaller for racing. And that tattoo is cool – much easier than my method of calculating it in my head. And, I do not like gels in general. My husband is a huge fan of Accel Gels that you have – me not so much after I had to eat too many of them a couple of years ago for my son's science fair project! Maybe I would like them in another flavor – I had the vanilla kind and just the thought of them gags me now!

  15. I am not a fan of belts…can't find on that fits right…plus I have enough bouncing around down there!! Thanks for the heads up on the Gel though…I am also on the search for a gel that doesn't leave my tummy angry!

  16. I have a Spibelt and love it. That iFitness belt looks cool, too. I wasn't ever a gel fan, but am learning to like them. It's more of a "I got some samples and I'm cheap" thing.

  17. Hi thanks for the hop,I love the tattoo what a great idea,i alway go of to quick in a race this would sort me out,I don't like gels i have tried the but i don't like them but are a great idea,i will have to try some again…:)

  18. you have me hooked on stingers! Now I just need to search for them somewhere nearby! love my fuel belt and the fact that it holds the bib is even sweeter!

  19. I still haven't tried a gel…I bought one to try, but I'm afraid of stomach issues or gagging. I'll be brave one day soon though! 🙂 That belt looks really nice! I run with a hand held water bottle.
