Grab a cup of tea, sit back, relax and feel the motivation of quotes to inspire a self care plan.
Self care isn’t an indulgence, it’s a necessary part of life, and it consists of more than the occasional massage or bubble bath. It’s about getting in touch with yourself, your wants, needs and dreams in body, mind and spirit. It’s about being comfortable with setting boundaries to protect yourself and deserving enough to say no when you need to so you don’t become burned out. Self care is making time everyday to relax, renew and energize.
An eating disorder tears down a person physically, mentally and spiritually. Consistent daily self care has been essential to build myself back up physically stronger, emotionally with more kindness toward myself and spiritually with a deeper personal connection and faith.
I’ve been practicing daily self care for almost 1 year. It took time to find what works for me and what are my non-negotiables that set me up with the mindset and energy to have an amazing day. The only variation is time. Sometimes it’s 15 minutes and sometimes it’s an hour or more. Every. Single. Day.
When I first started it was challenging to resist the urge to make self care a less of a priority. It took a conscious effort to not be so quick to skip it for something that, in the past, I thought was more important.
Then, without you even realizing it’s happening, self care becomes habit, like showering and brushing your teeth. Self care becomes something your body and mind look forward to experiencing. Self care is sometimes the only down time of my day.
As a personal trainer, yoga teacher and friend I encourage self care and the 2 responses I often get are “I feel guilty” and a general conversation that communicates “everyone else’s needs are more important than mine.” I get it. I’ve been there, repeatedly.
So, before we talk about creating a self care plan in the next few weeks I’m going to inspire you to believe, to make the time and to make a commitment to yourself and your needs, wants and dreams.
