Living Life with Intention || Goals for 2013

2013 Will Be No Accident!

Undoubtedly 2012 has been an amazing year! Now what? I’m going to live life with intention and to live that life I have, the sometimes dreaded, given a bad rap and often recommended against, goals for the new year.

Mary Anne Schumacher

Setting the intention is paving an uncreated road, goal setting is walking the road. Mary Anne Radmacher

I know my intentions. Now it’s time for new goals.

Goal [noun] the object of a person’s ambition or effort; an aim or desired result; the destination of a journey
Synonyms
aim – purpose – target – object – objective – end – mark

Do you set goals? I’ve read a lot about how, more often than not, setting goals leads to unrealistic expectations and failure. What do you think? Are goals helpful and motivating or frustrating? Have you ever run a color run?

I started the year with a major resolution to lose 50 lbs….Didn’t quite get there – I am at 36 lbs, but also accomplished things I NEVER thought I would do – became a runner, ran a 5k, a COLOR RUN!, a 8k and my first half marathon! Not too shabby…. :)

I am going into 2013 knowing I can accomplish my goals! I want to get to goal weight, run 1000 miles in 2013 while doing 13in2013!

I have always set a goal for the year but never let anyone in on it. This year was the first time and I found great success in putting it out to the universe. My focus this year is balance in life, family, hobbies, career, etc. It’s been my weakest point this past year and it needs to change.

Great list of virtual races! Can’t wait for the fun!

I did the Color Run! It’s fun to do with friends. Not a lot of people actually run it.

I consider January 1st as more of reminder to achieve the goals I already have in place and to “live with intention” as you say.

I’m interested to follow you on your quest for optimal nutrition. I have been vegetarian for 3 years and mostly vegan for some of that time. I think my energy could be better but mostly I think what would benefit me most is cutting out processed food and reducing the sweets. I know paleo isn’t my thing because I couldn’t give up grains! I really don’t know if I could eat meat again as it just doesn’t sound appealing anymore!

I don’t think setting goals lead to unrealistic expectations and failure. I think that setting goals leads to success. Sure, you may not achieve all your goals, but if you don’t set them in the first place, you will have a harder time achieving any of them!

Looking forward to the 13 in 2013!!
