Fitness Friday || Running and A Plate
| January 13, 2012 | Posted by jillconyers under Fitness Friday Blog Hop, Health and Fitness, Running, Trail Running |
You might remember that in November I found out I made it into the Dirty Dozen as one of the top 12 runners in an 8-month trail race series. I was surprised and so excited since it was the first time I ran more then 1-2 trail races in a year.
Anyway, I wasn’t really expecting to receive anything in recognition of my accomplishment…ok, I admit, I kind of expected a t-shirt. There’s always a t-shirt right? Not this time. So much time had passed I really hadn’t given it much more thought until last weekend. Guess what being one of the Dirty Dozen gets you other than dirty? Not a t-shirt. Not a medal. Not a certificate. A plate! I want to love it because I worked so hard to get it! It’s just not my style at all and I’m not much of a knickknack type of person.
What am I supposed to do with this? Chad says put it on a plate stand in my workout room. Would you? I wonder if it’s dishwasher safe? And, I was #10! Not #11 like the plate says.

What is the most unusual or unexpected award you have ever received? Did you keep it? Toss it? Pack it away in the basement? What would you do with this plate?
Happy Friday everyone!
Counting down the days until my first Twelve In Twenty Twelve half marathon: 14 days to go

Hi Jill thanks for hosting,I love to win t-shirts to add to my collection, I would say defiantly put it on a plate stand you work so hard and how many people have one??!!well done
I never win much ?
lol
“How many people have one?” You’re right! I never thought of that Claire
I say put it in your workout room!
Congrats!
Still thinking about it. It’s just so ugly…there I said it
That is hilarious! I’d probably keep it, but we’re not fans of knick knacks in our house, either.
My family still laughs about it
I’ll keep it I just don’t know that it will be “out”.
I would probably eat off of it. I dont like knick knacks….. Or clutter…..
Clutter is worse than knick knacks! Maybe I will eat off it but not if I have to hand wash it
Haha – that is a little tough. I’m not a fan of knick knacks, honestly it would probably end up in a box somewhere! Congratulations for your part though!
Thanks! I’m torn. Proud of the accomplishment but not a fan of the plate that represents the accomplishment. Ugh!
Ok, that’s a little random. I would probably just put it in the cabinet to get used.
I do like knick knacks, but I’m not sure that would make the cut. Congratulations again on the accomplishment!
Thanks Carrie
I have a few months to decide if I’m going to try again this year.
I think I’d be disappointed in the plate, too….but I’d maybe put it on a hanger and hang it on your workout room wall, it’s still and honor and what a great victory. Congrats!
I’m so proud of it! That’s why it isn’t in a box yet
I will probably end up putting it on an easel or plate stand in my workout room. Or like you said on the wall.
I’d eat a big slice of chocolate cake on it, sharpie #10 on it, then hang it on the wall in your workout room.
A plate. How odd. Yet, functional.
I once won a Christian Character trophy, when I was in college. The irony is that in all my zeal, I went into the pastor’s office a few weeks prior, telling him how I thought our church should stop giving out the Christian Character award because it promoted pride and not humility.
Yeah. Then I won.
Ha!
Have a great week. Off to do some Yoga X2!
Yes. Very odd! So you won the character trophy for suggesting they stop giving the character award… classic!
I kicked X2 Total Body butt yesterday and Yoga today
Form is so much better this week!
You should definitely hang it on the wall! Congrats!
Thanks! That’s probably where it will end up. That’s a better idea than my original plate stand idea. Definitely not into decorative plates on plate stands!
oh what a great reward – I think I would totally use it! It would be my inspirtation plate when I need a push in the morning.
Thank you Jen. You’ve helped me decide. If it isn’t hand wash only I’m going to use it
That way I can enjoy it without displaying it!!
I say put it in your workout room! When people ask about it you’ll have a story to tell!!
i think that plate is pretty funny – and yeah, I wouldn’t really know what to do with it either. I’ve never gotten anything like that – the most annoying medal I’ve ever gotten was a cowbell, but that’s only annoying because I mistakenly gave it to my 4 year old who rang it constantly….

haha. i mean it is very unique! and you worked so hard to get it! last year at a 10k we got a rubber duck with a tag around its neck that said 10k finisher. i kept it. i am a nerd. haha!
I would keep the plate, but probably not out. You could have a running party and use it then!
Put it somewhere you work out..I think it is so unusual that it is neat!
I am your newest follower..pls follow back if you can!
Congrats on the plate award! lol. Maybe hang it up on your inspirational board and glue a picture of you over the #11? Don’t really win much of anything, maybe I should enter contests first!
Thanks for hosting blog hop!
