Fitness Friday || Changes

Welcome to Fitness Friday and the new jillconyers [dot] com! Dont’ you love the sound of that : )

I still have things to add and design changes to make but I couldn’t wait any longer to share. It has taken countless hours (headaches and frustrations) to migrate from Typepad to a self hosted WordPress blog without losing more than 5 years of blogging content. It’s done (with the help of a friend)! Keep an eye out for more changes in the next few weeks.

Speaking of changes. As of this week I’m the mom of 2 teens. Crazy busy with 2 December birthdays.

Attitude makes such a big difference! Of the past 48 weeks the last 2 have presented the biggest obstacles to finding time to workout and run…weather, Chad’s (who works at Amazon so you can only imagine) insane work schedule, working late, parties, dinners, driving kids, sleepovers and on and on. At first I was so incredibly frustrated which meant stress. Until one day it hit me.

I thought of something Julia (of Pain, Pride and Perseverance) talks about on her blog. What am I supposed to learn from this? My attitude and perspective changed. I realized that Chad, Alec and Alyssa are so great about often working life around my running (and workout) schedule 11 months out of the year. So December is a bit difficult for me. Big deal.  I’m still running and working out. Maybe it’s not when I want or as often as I want. Again. Big deal! That was all it took to eliminate the stress of how crazy December is. Life is good :)

Next Fitness Friday! To celebrate registering for my first Twelve In Twenty Twelve race and my new blog, next Friday I’m hosting a wonderful giveaway from the designer of my all time favorite necklace :)

Now the link up!

  3. Congrats on the new blog! Loving the look so far!

And, as I am learning myself, looking at things in the right light makes a world of difference!

  4. Congrats on the new blog!! I paid to have mine converted, the stress of all that was too much for me.

Great attitude for December. We can’t have the schedule working around us 12 months a year. We wish ;-) .

  5. Congrats on the new blog – you are so brave! LOL I’ll def be hooking up for the giveaway!

  6. JILL! what a wonderful post! thanks for the shoutout! I, too, find that during times of stress…if I can just look for a bit of understanding of the bigger picture that I feel better! So glad this worked for you as well :) Such a beautiful family you have! Happy Friday!

  7. Nice job on the .com, lots of work! I can’t wait for 12 in 2012!

I can’t wait to hear about your first 12 in 2012!! I am still sorting through races, trying to figure out which ones I am going to do!

  10. I’ve been thinking of moving to WordPress for a few years. I would never attempt it on my own, so I guess that’s why I haven’t done it…$$ Hope you love it, keep us posted of the pros and cons. :)

  13. Love the shift in attitude for December – that is what I need to do. Thank you for that!

Can’t wait to see what the giveaway is! Congrats on the new blog!

  14. Love the new blog!! Thanks for reminding us we need to keep our attitude in check, it’s true, everyone is busy at this time of year. We should enjoy it while trying our best to stay on track and we can get seri0us again in the new year

  15. Everyone can use a little reminder every now and then :)

  16. I’m getting ready to sign up for my first event for the 12 in 2012 too!

  17. I love the new change!

I wish I could do 12 in 2012, but since we are planning on running our first marathon that might not be the best decision. Plus, I can’t really travel in January, February and March which would be necessary around here since there aren’t many winter half marathons in Western New York!

    • Your first marathon? How exciting! It’s hard finding races in or close to Ohio during those months too. When and where is your marathon?

Maybe I’ll convince you to join me in 2013! Who knows what the goal will be :)

  18. Liking the new site :) I have two kids with birthdays super close together…but not in December! I can’t imagine how nuts that would be :P Best of luck with it all… and have a lovely holiday!

  19. Your blog looks great! I have been thinking about making the switch to wordpress too, but I am afraid to do it! Excited to hear more about your changes and follow you here! :)

  20. Jill, I will probably be making a similar blog move in the fall (I am going to make some big changes with my blog once my youngest starts kindergarten). I will certainly be coming to you for tips on making the move without losing content! The mere thought of that freaks me out, completely.

Seems you are just a few steps ahead of me in so many areas of life…this new friendship works out very nicely for me. :)

Sorry I did not link up this week. Like you, december is insane for me. It’s all I could do to get a post up, much less add all the links.

    Blessings,
    Sandy

p.s. P90X is going so well for me this time around. Just finished week 7 and completely KILLED my last workout. I am so excited to start p90x 2 Jan 1! I’m going to do the full challenge this time….I want that t-shirt!!!!!!

    • Hi Sandy. I’m a big believer in things happening for a reason. Like us meeting. If you think about it the odds of us crossing paths are huge. that doesn’t sound too stalkerish does it LOL

With changing blogs, I had help but I’ll be happy to help as much as I can. One tip. Be prepared to be patient. The learning curve is steep but worth it.

I’m starting week 7 of P90X this week. P90X2 should be arriving any day! What is this about a t-shirt? Did I miss something?

We have to figure out a way to keep each on accountable and motivated for the full P90X2 challenge. We’ll come up with something fun :)

Looking forward to meeting you in person.
